Summer Programs
CONCERT IN THE PARK
Forget those summer time blues with the community center's weekly concert in the park. Every Thursday the Community Center will host a free concert in its outdoor area. A variety of musicians and bands will perform family friendly musical numbers. This fun and educational event will be open to the general public.
This event will be coordinated by the Marketing/Events Specialist. The Volunteer Coordinator will advise in the after performance clean up. Approximately 5 to 10 volunteers will be needed.
The equipment needed for this event includes speakers, microphones, and a generator.
SUMMER CAMP
The community center is thrilled to offer camp for 1st through 6th graders. The day camp will consist of a variety of activities including art and crafts, theater, field trips, and much more. This day camp will cost $150 a week and be offered for six weeks in the summer. For kids grades 7th through 12th the community center ups the excitement with over night camp! Over night camp will include outdoor activities such as wilderness skills, water races, campfire cuisines, and evening activities. Overnight camp will cost $250 a week and be offered for the same six weeks of the summer.
Day camp will be held at the Community Center and Overnight Camp will meet at the Community Center where they will then take off on their journey to Monte Sano State Park.
Both camps will be overseen by a number of counselors and the program director.
4th OF JULY CELEBRATION
The Community Center is proud to hold this annual event in remembrance of our nation. A day picnic will be held offering summer time favorites such as watermelon, corn on the cob, and hot dogs. This picnic will be held from 3 pm until 6 pm at the Outdoor Area in front of the community center. Immediately following the picnic will be the firework display, put on with assistance from the Huntsville Fire Department. This event is for the whole community and will cost $5 per person.
The picnic and fireworks display will be overseen by the Marketing/Events Specialist and the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers will be needed to help with the set up, food organization, and the clean up. About 10 volunteers will be needed.
