Dear Huntsville Community Center Board of Directors:
We respectfully request your support for developing the Huntsville Community Center, a non-profit facility scheduled to break ground in May 2013 in the Southeastern area of Huntsville, Alabama. This community center will serve individuals of all ages in the Huntsville area. We are committed to providing affordable quality services that promote healthy living and personal growth.
According to recent census data, the Huntsville area has a significant number of people under the age of 18. Analysis of this data and inquiries into current facilities suggests that the center will fill an existing need in the community. There are few community centers that offer programming for the entire family. After conducting surveys and holding roundtable discussions regarding the possibility of our facility, we are confident that the community wants our facility and will benefit from it. As mentioned previously, our programming is designed for all people of all ages and ability levels. We have also collaborated with many specialists in the area to design programs that support individuals with special needs.
The facility will offer an aquatics center, fitness classes, cardiovascular and strength training equipment, basketball and racquetball courts, and outdoor sports facility. There will also be a community multipurpose room and rooftop garden. Many programs have been designed for the center including: seasonal, drop-in, scheduled, and adaptive programs. Our seasonal programs include 5k fundraisers, holiday celebrations, and summer camps. Some of our drop-in programs include a dog park, multi-purpose courts, and day care facilities. There will be fitness classes, cooking instruction, and an afterschool program for kids. We also plan to offer multiple wheelchair accessible programs, instructional lifestyle seminars, and climbing classes for the visually impaired.
We intend to break ground on this vital community resource in May 2013 and it will be fully operational in June 2014. To market the center, we have developed multiple connections with local schools, support services, and businesses. They have provided valuable input for our facility and program design and they are in support of the center. We will market our facility in their newsletters, flyers, and facilities. In addition, informational flyers will be mailed to all households within a 50-mile radius. We will create television and radio advertisements as well as social media marketing that will provide information about the facility and programs.
In our request for approval, we have included multiple components that provide in-depth information about the specifics of the Huntsville Community Center. Please take time to review our 1) executive summary; 2) research; 3) program plan; 4) schematics; 5) ADA plan; 6) LEED certification; 7) operating budget; 8) human resources plan; 9) risk management plan; and 10) marketing products. Our facility team has put great effort and consideration into the design of this facility and our thoughtfulness will be evident as you review the components included in this report. If you have any feedback or questions, please let us know. We know you will be pleased with our plan and we look forward to receiving your approval.
Sincerely,
Huntsville Community Center Development Team
