Risk Management Plan
There are two risks/emergencies that the Huntsville Community Center would most likely face – medical emergencies and inclement weather. Below you can find the policies and procedures the Community Center would use to prevent or alleviate these risks/emergencies and how we would react to them in the event that they might occur.
Medical Emergencies
Preventing/Alleviating Medical Emergencies
With the numerous physically demanding activities (both drop-in and group oriented) that are available at the Huntsville Community Center, there is a good possibility of medical emergencies. To prevent and alleviate these emergencies, the Community Center will do the following:
Reacting to the Event of a Medical Emergency
In the event that a serious medical emergency takes place, Community Center employees will set in motion the following Emergency Action Plan:
1) The employee closest to the incident (Employee #1) instructs one person to call 911 and another to radio the front desk informing them of the incident.
2) Employee #1 responds with appropriate First Aid, CPR, and/or AED procedures.
3) The front desk designates employees to:
a. Assist Employee #1.
b. Remove patrons from the area of the incident and any areas in the path that emergency medical personnel will use to get to the incident.
c. Place themselves along the path that emergency medical personnel will use to instruct them where to go.
d. Place themselves at all access points to prevent media from access to the incident.
e. Inform proper management staff.
4) All staff continue at their posts and with their assignments until emergency medical personnel arrive.
5) Employee #1 accompanies the injured patron to the hospital.
6) After the incident is over, all employees involved will debrief the incident and any counseling needed will be provided.
