Security Measures
To prevent constituents access to places they should not be and to ensure employee and emergency personnel access is also regulated, we will implement the measures described below.
- Signage: All areas will be clearly identified. If it is not a common area, the signs will clearly explain that information. Also, any potential hazards associated with ignoring the signs will also be explicitly stated.
- Emergency doors: All emergency doors will be locked from the outside, permitting emergency services access. However, members will not be able to open them without setting off emergency service alarms.
- Alarm system: The facility will be equipped with an alarm system and camera monitoring system. These systems, if triggered, will alert local authorities and the Executive Director.
- Specialized keys and locks: Specific doors permitting access to sensitive materials and equipment will be accessible only with a special key and pass code. Only people requiring daily access to these areas will have a key and entry code. All other people wishing to enter the area must consult with the Executive Director.
- Police monitoring: When the facility is closed, the police department will drive past the facility. We have an amicable relationship with the department and, provided there are no overriding emergencies, the squad has offered to monitor our facility after hours.
- Outdoor area safety: To ensure the outdoor area is safe, we will use fencing to cordon off the area when not in use by the facility. There will also be signage indicating the center's policies concerning the outdoor spaces. The outdoor areas will also be equipped with motion activated lights that will respond to movement in the area.
- Pool access: Pool safety is very important to the center and we have implemented a policy that mandates a lifeguard must open the pool for general use. The pool cannot be opened and/or accessed by any other member of the staff. This will help guarantee the safety of all members.
- Security guards: For special events, we will require the assistance of trained security guards. The security guard's presence will mitigate possible issues occurring.
